Programme
Rio Climate Action Week
23-29 August 2025
PROGRAMME
Rio Climate Action Week offers a curated programme of activities across the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro from Saturday 23rd to Friday 29th August 2025.
The Programme for the inaugural Rio Climate Action Week 2025 is designed around the COP30 Action Agenda, organized by the incoming Brazilian presidency, which intends to accelerate the implementation of the Global Stocktake (GST) agreed at COP28. The Action Agenda focuses on the following six thematic areas, which seek to translate the GST findings into concrete, ambitious, and globally impactful initiatives, connecting climate action with sustainable development.
As part of our Whole of Society Mobilisation ethos, RCAW provides an inclusive platform for organisations to propose their own events during the week using the Register Your Event section of the website.
The official Rio Climate Action Week programme will begin on Saturday 23rd August with a service at the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue and events on Copacabana Beach, parks across the city, and in the famed Botanical Gardens (Jardim Botanico), emphasising engagement with the natural environment. Each day will be guided by one of the six Action Agenda themes, although there will also be several Hubs across the city (see below) addressing specific issues in greater depth over several days. There will be a formal Opening Conference and Gala Dinner on Monday 25th August. The week will end on Friday 29th August with public closing events and festivities.
Events will take place in numerous Hubs (see below) during the week in different locations showcasing the architectural, cultural, historic and natural beauty of the city of Rio de Janeiro and its vibrant communities.
Details on the programme will be available from 21st July onwards.
