SUMMARY:Nature at the Center: Governance\, Sustainable Supply Chains\, and the Road to COP30
DESCRIPTION:This high-level session will explore the intersection between environmental governance\, deforestation-free supply chains\, and climate-nature-finance integration\, with a focus on transparency\, traceability\, and financial risks linked to nature loss. The event aims to foster dialogue among government institutions\, private sector actors\, financial institutions\, and civil society on key challenges and opportunities for building inclusive\, sustainable value chains—particularly in the Amazon region. \nThe agenda includes two strategic panels: \nNature\, Transparency\, and Financial Risk in Agricultural Supply Chains – discussing disclosure\, Scope 3 emissions\, traceability systems\, and exposure to deforestation. \nBuilding an Inclusive Economy in the Amazon – highlighting the role of sustainable business ecosystems\, traditional communities\, and impact finance in regional development. \nPreliminary speakers include representatives from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MMA)\, Embassy of Norway\, leading agribusiness companies (e.g. Marfrig\, Klabin\, or Amaggi)\, development banks (e.g. BNDES)\, and grassroots organizations from the Amazon. Moderation will be led by CDP and Idesam. \nIntended attendees: public sector officials\, companies in forest-risk supply chains\, financial institutions\, indigenous and traditional peoples’ representatives\, researchers\, and international partners. \nObjectives and expected outcomes: \nStrengthen cross-sectoral alignment on nature-related priorities in Brazil’s COP30 presidency. \nShare best practices and identify policy gaps in traceability and environmental disclosure. \nHighlight nature-related financial risks and investment opportunities. \nAdvance a common narrative on the role of transparency and sustainable supply chains in implementing Brazil’s NDCs and the Global Biodiversity Framework.
