SUMMARY:Increasing Country Platform Project “Bankability” Through the Enabling Power of De-risking & Insurance
DESCRIPTION:This invite-only roundtable\, focused on Brazil and the Brazilian Investment Platform (BIP)\, will explore how both international and domestic insurance sectors can work more strategically to increase project bankability so unlocking greater & faster flows of climate finance. By innovating with a broad range of existing insurance mechanisms\, the aim is to significantly increase the bankability of mitigation\, adaptation\, and resilience projects. With the potential to quickly increase bankability and therefore finance flows by as much as 40%. \nThe discussion will centre on an understanding of risk barriers to investment – credit\, policy\, physical\, technology\, and others\, and how existing risk transfer products can be adapted\, evolved\, and applied more comprehensively to BIP project pipelines. The session will highlight with real world examples how early\, strategic collaboration between project developers\, investors\, banks and the insurance sector can transform the financial viability of climate projects and accelerate both domestic and international capital flows. \nWe are looking to CoP30 to help deliver a practical and efficient model for much more effective engagement of the international insurance sector through investment mechanisms such as country investment platforms (“Country Platforms”) using the Brazilian Investment Platform as an exemplar pilot.  This can serve as a blueprint for the derisking of projects and investment flows mobilised through “Country Platforms” being developed by numerous countries as a mechanism for enabling investment plans to finance NDCs and NAPs pursuant to the Paris Agreement. \n  \nAgenda: \n09:00 hrs: Registration & Welcome – refreshments; \n09:30 hrs: Introduction and Context \n09:40 hrs: Fire Starter Interventions \n10:00 hrs: Facilitated Discussion \n10:50 hrs: Summary and Wrap Up \n11:00 hrs: Networking – refreshments \n11:30 hrs: Finish \n  \nThis event is at full capacity\, we are only able to admit those already registered.

SUMMARY:Esse tal de Efeito Estufa + iCS 10 anos

SUMMARY:Tackling forest fires and air pollution: Leveraging solutions on the road to COP30

SUMMARY:Regional Community of Practice (CoP) on corporate transition plans in Latin America
DESCRIPTION:In alignment with the COP30 Action Agenda’s call to accelerate the implementation of the Global Stocktake\, this Regional Community of Practice (CoP) will bring together private sector actors across Latin America to catalyze credible\, actionable corporate transition plans. \nAs countries revise their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) ahead of COP30\, companies in the region are under increasing pressure to demonstrate how they will deliver emissions reductions\, mobilize finance and ensure a just transition\, while securing long-term business resilience. The CoP will serve as a platform for company representatives to share challenges and solutions in a peer driven setting\, rooted in real world implementation. \nHosted at the inaugural Rio Climate Week\, this session builds on the World Benchmarking Alliance’s experience benchmarking transition plans globally and convening stakeholders to strengthen corporate accountability. It also follows recent engagements across other regional climate weeks where business actors explored sector specific and cross sector pathways for implementation.\nThis roundtable is aligned with the following key-objectives of the COP30 Action Agenda: (1) tripling renewables and doubling energy efficiency\, (2) accelerating zero- and low-emission technologies in hard-to-abate sectors\, (4) transitioning away from fossil fuels\, in a just\, orderly and equitable manner\, (20) climate and sustainable finance. \nEvent Organiser(s): World Benchmarking Alliance\, World Climate Foundation\, High level Climate Champions team\, Climate Bonds Initiative\, Science Based targets initiative\, Climate Finance Hub Brasil \nWorld Climate Foundation: WCF mission is to catalyse the economic transition to a sustainable future by building cross-sector collaboration\, establishing innovative partnerships and mobilising investments in climate and nature-based solutions. WCF vision is a net-zero\, nature-positive and healthy planet by 2050 in alignment with the goals of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change\, the Global Biodiversity Framework and the Sustainable Development Goals. \nHigh level Climate Champions team: At the COP 21 United Nations climate change conference in Paris\, governments agreed that mobilizing stronger and more ambitious climate action is urgently required to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement. \nTo connect the work of governments with the many voluntary and collaborative actions taken by cities\, regions\, businesses and investors\, nations decided to appoint two Climate Change High-Level Champions. \nThe champions work focuses on two crucial areas: \n1. Engage with interested Parties and non-Party stakeholders: This work builds on existing initiatives and supports new and more geographically diverse initiatives. Focus is placed on connecting initiatives and coalitions with national action plans such as nationally determined contributions (NDCs) to the Paris Agreement. This helps bringing more transparency\, with result tracking and lends demonstrable credibility to climate action. \n2. Input from the champions efforts to mobilize action helps the secretariat organize technical expert meetings and\, in collaboration with the Executive Secretary and the current and incoming Presidents of the Conference of the Parties\, coordinate annual high-level events to spur even greater ambition and action. \nClimate Bonds Initiative: Climate Bonds Initiative is an international organisation working to mobilise global capital for climate action Supported by a 50-member Advisory Panel\, CBI has an international stakeholder base among institutional investors\, NGOs and the finance sector. The aim is to develop a large and liquid Green and Climate Bonds market that will help drive down the cost of capital for climate projects and improve access to lower-cost debt in emerging markets. \nScience Based targets initiative: The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a corporate climate action organization that enables companies and financial institutions worldwide to play their part in combating the climate crisis. \nWe develop standards\, tools and guidance which allow companies to set greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions targets in line with what is needed to keep global heating below catastrophic levels and reach net-zero by 2050 at latest. \nThe SBTi is incorporated as a charity\, with a subsidiary which will host our target validation services. Our partners are CDP\, the United Nations Global Compact\, the We Mean Business Coalition\, the World Resources Institute (WRI)\, and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). \nThe World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA)\, Climate Champions Team (CCT)\, Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI)\, Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)\, World Climate Foundation (WCF) and Climate Finance Hub Brazil (CFH Brazil) invite you to participate in a conversation on corporate transition plans during Rio Climate Week 2025\, on August 26\, 2025\, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Aimed at representatives of companies\, business networks and organizations working closely with the corporate sector\, this meeting will be a unique opportunity to share challenges\, solutions and concrete strategies for implementing robust transition plans aligned with the COP30 Action Agenda and the review of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) in the region. This will be a closed-door event\, with limited spaces\, to ensure a safe and collaborative environment for peer-to-peer dialogue. Confirmation of participation will be sent via email\, along with the location address. Your presence is essential to strengthening the private sector’s role in building a more sustainable\, resilient\, and competitive future for Brazil and Latin America.

SUMMARY:Critical Minerals and Just Transitions – opportunities and perspectives for a just and equitable development
DESCRIPTION:As the global energy transition accelerates\, critical minerals have emerged as both a strategic opportunity and a governance challenge for Global South countries. The concentration of mineral reserves in developing nations\, alongside processing capabilities concentrated in industrialised economies\, creates complex dynamics that require careful navigation to ensure just and equitable transition pathways.\nThis RCAW side event addresses the urgent need to examine opportunities\, financing mechanisms\, and governance frameworks for critical minerals in the context of a just transition\, with particular focus on how Global South countries can leverage their resource endowments for sustainable development and how South-North and South-South cooperation can be reimagined to ensure a just transition.\nEvent Objectives : To explore opportunities and perspectives for Global South countries to leverage critical minerals for sustainable development while addressing governance challenges and financing gaps in the just transition.
