Please read our Thank You note from the RCAW co-founders, with some key announcements, and follow us on social media to keep up with the engagement.
Thank you and see many of you at COP30!
As the host of the COP30 Climate Summit in November 2025, all eyes will again be on Brazil to build consensus for climate action and recommit to multilateralism. From the Rio Earth Summit in 1992, which created the world’s sustainability architecture and climate convention, Rio will once again play a key role in building global mutirão – collective action for planetary wellbeing in 2025.
Rio Climate Action Week is an independent, non-partisan initiative, in support of the Brazilian COP30 Presidency and its six-themed Action Agenda, in partnership with London Climate Action Week, to showcase and mobilise climate action at every level. RCAW will bring the public, private and voluntary sectors, together with financial institutions, philanthropy and others, in a series of events across the week to set up ambition for delivery at COP30. Expect to see a range of actors engaging from – from business & industry to civil society, academia, science and technology community, arts and culture institutions, faith groups, sports bodies and others taking vital practical action to meet climate and sustainability goals. In this critical year, RCAW will work to strengthen Brazilian leadership, building on the successes of Baku and London Climate Action Weeks to deliver success at COP30 and beyond.
Inspired by London Climate Action Week, which has taken place since 2019, and in partnership with Baku, Bangkok, New York, Shanghai, Sydney and other climate weeks
Created to be a meeting point between innovation, sustainability and green, equitable economic development in Brazil
An open, decentralized and collaborative festival of climate events, providing solutions for the climate crisis and adapted to Brazil’s reality.

Action on climate change and sustainability requires innovation, culture, institutions and strategic investment to come together in a spirit of mutirão. RCAW will connect all these communities.
1. SUPPORTING BRAZIL AND GLOBAL CLIMATE AMBITION
Supporting Brazil’s Leadership on Climate Action & Sustainable Development. In a pivotal year for Brazilian diplomacy as host of COP30 and other key international summits, RCAW will highlight the importance of multilateralism and international cooperation in response to climate challenges and wider complex, intersecting trade and geopolitical challenges facing nations.
2. FINANCING INCLUSIVE AND RESILIENT CLIMATE TRANSITION
RCAW will address the climate finance gap, mobilising domestic, regional and international institutions and thought leaders for innovative and practical new solutions. The gap between national climate plans and investment is vast and growing. It is estimated that US$8 trillion a year is needed to finance the climate transition globally, rising to $10 trillion a year after 2030.
3. DELIVERING A NET ZERO, RESILIENT RIO AND BRAZIL
RCAW will support city leadership to deliver a net zero, resilient Rio De Janeiro and Brazil by helping accelerate efforts towards a just and inclusive climate transition. RCAW will help develop synergies between public, private and voluntary sector organisations to encourage collaboration and build a ‘Climate Cluster’ of Rio’s dynamic climate and sustainability leaders.
4. MOBILISING WHOLE OF SOCIETY CLIMATE ACTION
RCAW will create a new city-wide platform, connecting with other global climate action weeks, to engage across sectors and mobilise “whole of society” climate action vital to support deep decarbonisation and resilience. RCAW will expand the range of organisations and institutions engaged in the climate policy, debate and action, including through partnership with cities across Brazil, through the international diaspora of Brazilians globally and with other global cities.
